Spotlight Interview- Multiply Project

Following a fabulous information session with Clare at The Multiply Project we chatted about what The Multiply Project offers and how our community can benefit from their courses.

Tell us about your organisation and why it started?

Multiply offers a wide range of courses both independently at local community hubs, but also in collaboration with existing community groups. One of our most popular sessions has been 'Cook with Me' - working with schools across the city we have delivered accredited Health Eating workshops in which families can learn to cook together, using an air fryer. Similarly, we've delivered cooking and DIY workshops in a number of temporary accommodations across Cardiff. Another successful initiative has been delivering 'How to Use a Tape Measure' workshops at HMP Cardiff. These tailored, skills-based, workshops focus on the accurate use of measuring tapes, encompassing both metric and imperial measurements. Last year, the Multiply Team arranged to visit a number of Older Persons Accommodation across Cardiff to deliver fun number games for residents on a regular basis. Residents enjoyed a range of activities from cribbage and colour by numbers, to a game of darts and coaster decorating.

What does the next year look like for The Multiply Project?

Following the fantastic news that our funding as being extended for another year, the Multiply team are working on new courses that we can offer to new and existing community groups. These will cover basic literacy skills, confidence building and a more comprehensive Spreadsheets programme.

We are also working on Self-Employment Workshops, and Budgeting for Universal Credit sessions to be delivered in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions.

Is there anything you would like to share that would be of particular interest with our Single Parent Community?

Our courses are open to anyone over the age of 16, regardless of whether you are actively looking for work or already in employment. We have a wide range of courses that cover budgeting, as well as courses aimed specifically at parents who would like to support their child's numeracy and literacy development. For more information on our courses, please visit our website or email us with any questions!

Where can we find you online?

You can find information about the project and course dates on our website: Multiply: Numeracy Skills Programme - Adult Learning Cardiff
