Spotlight Interview- Out loud Arts Collective

We chat with SPW Partner Zoe Murphy, Out Loud Arts Collective about what spurred them on to start a CIC.

Tell us about your business and why it started?

Out Loud Arts Collective CIC was founded to champion inclusivity, working-class representation in the arts sector and to support personal growth through creativity. Rooted in my own experience growing up on a council estate and working in diverse settings — from prisons to universities — the organisation began as a way to make space for voices that are too often left out of the conversation.

Tell us about your ethos and values?

We deliver creative workshops, performances, and community events designed to help people access artistic opportunities, share their stories, build confidence, and connect with others. Our work with young people focuses on empowerment through the arts — including dance, music, writing, performance, and discussion — and we also support women's wellbeing and confidence through dance.

What does the next 12 months look like for your organisation?

We launched Season 2 of our live podcast series Out Loud With Zoe in October 2025, with monthly events blending panel discussions, storytelling circles, and performance salons. Alongside the podcast, we’ll be running youth arts projects, dance classes and a small number of pop-up workshops, collaborating with partners to create inclusive, creative opportunities across Swansea and beyond.

Is there anything you’d like to share with our SPW Community?

Yes! One of our 'Out Loud With Zoe' episodes next year will focus on single parents, co-parents, and blended families. It will celebrate the strength and creativity within these family structures, and highlight the importance of wellbeing and community support. More information to follow!
