What Does My Family Look Like?
Intergenerational Volunteer project in Swansea
Postcode and National Lottery Funded ‘What Does My Family Look Like?’ project
For young people and their family members living in single parent households, to come together to challenge stigma. Championing inclusive, safe environments for young people from single parent households.
We are co-producing a resource through a wide variety of fun, creative sessions that will help the volunteers to share their experiences. Our young people will lead the way to make a difference in how children from single parent households are treated in services across Wales.
How to get involved:
Co-production
The family members and the young people will meet over the coming months to chat about what this resource looks like, what it needs to have in it and who needs to see it.
Workshops
We will be running two workshops side by side so we hear the voice of young people and that of single parents separately, before bringing them together.
Socials
Socials will take place once every half-term and holiday, the young people will influence what these sessions look like and what they would like to do.
Cofacilitation
Towards the end of the project we will be trialing the resource on the ground at a school in Swansea.
The young people will lead this session with the support of one of our youth workers and we will capture the learning to help us scale up this resource nation-wide.
Outreach
We will be inviting guest facilitators to join the workshops bi-monthly to explore through different mediums of creativity, ‘what my family looks like’.
Events
We will be working towards an end of project exhibition and Summit to display our findings and share the resource with the wider community.

Every year we are asked by our funders to report and let them know how we are impacting the community and the people we work with. The National Lottery Community Fund that supports the Mental Health Manifesto - Action For Our Future project, has asked us to report on our third year and below is a summary of the report.
